Pamela V Thacher

My areas of specialty include insomnia and other sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, and depression, often with chronic pain or stress-related issues. I trained with Donn Posner, Ph.D., at Brown University's School of Medicine in an internship and subsequently in my post-doctoral training as well. I've taught psychology full time in a liberal arts setting for much of the last two decades, but recently expanded my private practice, when I left teaching last year. I'm trained in behavioral and in Cognitive-behavioral therapy for panic, phobias, GAD, OCD, and stress-related disorders, as well as mood disorders. I typically see people with dual diagnoses of insomnia coupled with anxiety or depression. I have also addressed circadian rhythm disorders, Bipolar disorder, and chronic pain in diagnostic and treatment planning. I typically use a combination of behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and ACT to address these issues. I have a strong foundation in empirically-derived, and empirically-supported, treatment methods. Most of my practice is conducted through telehealth, but I also have an in-person office location if someone is local and prefers to meet in person.
