Michael Spertus, MD
Michael Spertus, MD, is a physician, board-certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, and a clinical Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Institute for Family Health, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York. He also completed fellowships in Health Professional Education and Primary Care Psychiatry, certification in clinical hypnosis, and advanced certificates in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and mindfulness-based interventions. In addition to his private practice at SpertusMD, Dr. Spertus currently works as the Chief Well-Being Officer (CWO) and as a consultant physician in Whole Health for Pain Medicine at the Miami VA Health System, and he is an Assistant Professor (Voluntary) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Spertus focuses his clinical care on individualized Integrative Medicine approaches that treat the whole person in the context of their lives, with a focus on the intersection between physical and mental health.

-Trained in the Penn model (basic) as well as the Dr. Gregg Jacobs CBT-I model
-Took advanced training with Michael Perlis, PhD, Donn Posner, PhD, & Jason Ellis, PhD through Sleep Consultancy, Ltd., and through learnings offered through the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
-Has been providing CBT-I since 2018 in individual and group settings. I continue to provide CBT-I to veterans at the Miami VA and run a group focusing on insomnia with chronic pain.
-Has given national lectures on insomnia, the importance of sleep as a lifestyle factor, and the use of acupuncture in sleep and insomnia.
