I am also a Master Instructor for the International Association of Fire Fighters and have presented multiple times on firefighter sleep deprivation and how to get better sleep in the fire service. While I am not limited to working only with first responders, I do enjoy coaching first responders and their families. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and am board certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. One of the things I like most about my work is being able to help people improve their lives through better sleep. It’s amazing to witness someone go from feeling controlled by their sleep problems to being confident in their ability to improve their sleep and cope with the bad nights that become fewer and fewer.
In addition to practicing at Sleep Health Center, I am on the faculty of Indiana University. Specifically, I am Assistant Clinical Professor and Associate Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Dr. Dardeen spent her undergraduate and early graduate years working as an EMT for various paramedic services in Indiana and completed her first several years as a psychologist in the VA Healthcare system working with veterans returning from OEF/OIF/OND missions. She is uniquely placed to assist our first responders with resolving stressors and symptoms that result from their demanding work environments. She also serves as the clinical director for an embedded peer support team within the Crawfordsville Police Department, a state-wide peer support team for IU Lifeline, and a local 501c3 peer support team-6th Alarm Peer Support.
