Dr Dimitri Gavriloff
Dr Gavriloff is a clinical psychologist and sleep medicine specialist. He lectures in sleep medicine and is a Research Clinical Psychologist at the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute (SCNi), University of Oxford. He also leads the University of Oxford's Two-Day Masterclass in CBT for Insomnia. His research interests are principally in the development and refinement of psychobehavioural treatments for circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders and in the advancement of sleep medicine education within wider clinical training pathways.
Dr Gavriloff also works as a consultant in sleep medicine for Sleepio/Big Health Ltd, where his work is focused on making digital CBT for insomnia scalable. He is a founder member and steering committee member of the European Sleep Research Society’s (ESRS) European Academy of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (EA-CBTI) and a Somnologist (Expert in Behavioural Sleep Medicine) certified with the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS).
Prior to training in clinical psychology he spent several years practicing as a Buddhist monk in the Theravada tradition, mainly in the Thai Forest Tradition, and has a particular interest in the use of metacognitive, so-called "third-wave", approaches (e.g., mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches) in the treatment of insomnia.
