Dr. Brenda K. Wiederhold is the Co-Founder of the Virtual Reality Medical Center (VRMC) and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA, VA, and Belgium) with a doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology. With board certifications in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback, she integrates advanced physiological monitoring with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat complex stress and sleep-related disorders, phobias, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain.
In her private practice and as a member of the Medical Staff at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Dr. Wiederhold applies CBT-I principles to help patients overcome insomnia by addressing the intersection of cognitive patterns and autonomic arousal. Her extensive background in treating anxiety and phobias—including over 10,000 therapy sessions—provides a deep foundation for managing the hyperarousal often associated with chronic sleep onset and maintenance issues.
An international leader in behavioral healthcare, Dr. Wiederhold has authored over 400 scientific publications and 19 books. Her work focuses on using transformative technology and evidence-based protocols to improve patient outcomes in stress management and sleep health.
