As a clinical health psychologist, I specialize in addressing the intricate connection between psychological factors and medical conditions in adults (18+). My focus areas include:
• Perinatal mood, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment disorders and infertility
• Psychological trauma from physical injury or hospitalization
• Insomnia/circadian rhythm disorders
• Chronic pain and gastrointestinal concerns
• Adjustment to illness/ related changes in physical abilities
• Behavioral weight management, binge-eating, night eating syndrome
• Preparation for/adjustment following surgical procedures (e.g., bariatrics/transplants)
I tailor evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, and Schema Therapy. Certified by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, I support patients in adopting healthy behaviors aligning with the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, social connection, and reduction of risky substances. I am also certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International and completed training in hypnosis for cancer pain at the Center for Behavioral Oncology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Having worked with active military and veterans, I did additional training to become a Star Behavioral Health Provider. Moreover, I am credentialed through the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
Specific to sleep: I completed a CBTi workshop at University of Pennsylvania by Drs. Perlis, Posner, and Ellis. I also completed an APA accredited internship at University of Florida, Gainesville and trained at their sleep medicine clinic doing behavioral sleep medicine evaluations and implementing CBTi.
